Israeli bombing of Gaza hospital will not go unanswered: Iran

MEHR: The Israeli regime's crime of bombing a hospital in Gaza will definitely not go unanswered, says the Iranian government in a statement after the regime's Tuesday attack on al-Ahli Baptist Hospital.

The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a statement issued on Wednesday, expressed its full support for the legitimate and legal right of the oppressed Palestinian people to assert the right to self-determination and freedom from the tyranny of the occupiers. It also called on all Muslim nations and Islamic governments to stand up against the fake regime and use all necessary means to end the Zionists' endless cruelty and killing of innocent Muslims.

At least 500 civilians, mainly women and children, were killed by Israeli airstrikes on the facility amid a relentless war by the regime in the besieged Gaza Strip, the territory's health ministry said. The actual death toll could be far higher since, according to the ministry, "hundreds of victims are still under the rubble."

The strikes came while thousands of civilians were seeking medical treatment and shelter at the hospital from incessant Israeli airstrikes.

The Zionist regime's crime of brutally bombing the al-Ahli Baptist in Gaza shocked the world and filled the heart of every free person with pain and anger, the statement said, adding that the Israeli regime revealed its anti-human nature and disregard for all human rules and principles to everyone by committing this crime.

The inaction of the international entities towards this huge crime is a double injustice to the oppressed people of Palestine and a clear betrayal of humanity and human civilization, it further added.

While condemning this heinous crime in the strongest possible way, the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on the international community and the United Nations to take immediate action to stop the crimes of the child-killing and racist Zionist regime and reminds the responsibility of each and every government, the United Nations Security Council and the International Criminal Court in prosecuting the Zionist regime's chieftains for committing heinous international crimes against the Palestinian people, it added.

The statement further noted that the supporters of the Zionist regime's crimes who provide military and political support to occupiers and encourage them to the mass killing of the Gaza people, are considered accomplices of the crimes committed by this regime and should be held accountable.

Iran also urged the Islamic countries and all international entities to unite to provide comprehensive support for Palestine and its Resistance, cut ties with the illegitimate and illegal Zionist regime, and expel the ambassadors and representatives of this fake regime.

The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran also expressed sympathy and renewed support for the oppressed and heroic nation of Palestine and declared Wednesday a public mourning throughout the country.
